Continuing to serve Mesa County!
I am Janice Rich, and I am seeking election (in 2010) as your next Mesa County Treasurer.
Eight years ago, several community leaders (past and current), because of their integrity and commitment, inspired me to seek public office. For the past 7+ years, it has been an honor to serve as your Mesa County Clerk and Recorder.
I believe in serving my community, and I hope you will support my campaign election for County Treasurer. To be effective, the job of County Treasurer requires communication and organizational skills, intelligence, integrity, forward thinking, initiative, energy, persistence, and sensitivity. Sometimes, it even takes a sense of humor.
Article XIV, Section 8 of the Colorado Constitution is the authority by which a County Treasurer operates. All activities are directed by the Colorado State Legislature. Duties of a County Treasurer include: maintaining correct and proper accounting of all monies; being responsible for property tax statements to owners of record; collecting property tax; serving as custodian of various funds; disbursing taxes to the proper taxing authorities.
The Mesa County Treasurer has realized many successes which have enhanced customer service throughout the county. If I am fortunate to be your next Mesa County Treasurer, I hope to continue in the footsteps of those who came before me. Like them, I will continue to search for innovative ways to further improve the service that our customers expect and deserve.
I hope you will join my campaign effort. I would be honored to have your support!
Janice Rich
